ligt volgende week in de winkel (maar da's geen nieuws). De clip van de single Bring It On is wel een klein beetje nieuws (Chris Bailey van The Saints ziet er net zo verlopen uit als je zou verwachten) en te zien bij 3voor12.

Koufax en Kevin Devine @ Goudvishal, Arnhem
Wat zou je doen als je voor slechts zeven betalende bezoekers moest optreden, maar wel een stand had ingericht met al je CD's, vinyl, t-shirts en buttons? De zanger van Koufax wist het wel: een plots opkomende keelpijn voorwenden en na drie kwartier van het podiium stappen. De powerpoppers gooiden het werk van Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello en Wreckless Eric uit het begin van de jaren tachtig en eind van de jaren zeventig in een blender, mikten er een snufje Cheap Trick aan toe en voila. Vrolijke pop die het ongetwijfeld goed doet op een festival. Maar voor zeven betalende bezoekers pakt het toch iets minder goed uit en dat vonden ze zelf blijkbaar ook.

Voorprogramma Kevin Devine had er minder moeite mee, al schreef hij in de CD die medebezoeker E. kocht een stekelige opmerking over het gebrek aan publiek. De New Yorkse singer/songwriter zingt eigen folky liedjes in de trant van Mountain Goats en Simon Joyner, aangevuld met wat goedgekozen covers (Pavement, Red House Painters) en een minder gelukkig gekozen versie van kampvuurklassieker You are my sunshine.

Op de site van zijn label Defiance Records zijn twee liedjes te downloaden: het splinternieuwe Haircut en Protest Singer van zijn debuutplaat Circle Gets The Square.

The Dismemberment Plan
stopt ermee.
There will not be a next album by the Dismemberment Plan. Travis will be going into the studio in April with some songs of his own, and probably a handful, or maybe all, of the songs we worked on as a band to record a solo album.

In terms of playing live, we're going to continue playing the shows we’ve booked this winter, and I’d assume a few more will be added this spring. We’re seriously considering a last tour of the States in the early summer and maybe something overseas this summer if we can work that out.
